Truck Centre Sets New Benchmark With High-Performance Resin Flooring

Products Used: Stonclad GS + HT4 Silver Grey
Application Area: New Workshop

Stonhard has delivered a high-performance resin flooring solution for a leading Truck Centre’s new workshop in Lleida, Spain. Spanning 2,400 m², the installation was engineered to withstand the rigorous demands of modern heavy-vehicle maintenance operations while setting a long-term performance standard for future facilities.

Challenges & Customer Requirements

Heavy vehicle workshops are among the most demanding industrial environments for flooring systems. Continuous truck movement, dropped tools, mechanical impact, oil exposure, and sustained operational traffic create extreme stress conditions that quickly expose the limitations of conventional coatings.

Although this was a newly constructed facility, the Truck Centre had experienced persistent flooring failures at previous sites. Traditional painted systems and lower-grade coatings had deteriorated prematurely, resulting in repeated repairs, increased maintenance costs, and operational disruptions. For the new workshop, the objective was clear: implement a robust, long-term flooring solution that eliminates recurring failures and supports uninterrupted workshop performance.

Key requirements included:

  • High resistance to impact and mechanical abrasion
  • Long-term durability under heavy truck traffic
  • A seamless, easy-to-maintain surface
  • A professional, high-quality industrial finish
  • A solution capable of serving as benchmark for future facilities

Solution

To meet these demands, Stonhard manufactured and installed Stonclad GS, a heavy-duty epoxy mortar system specifically designed for industrial environments subject to high mechanical stress and constant traffic. Finished with a layer of HT4 Silver Grey, the system provides a seamless, monolithic surface with exceptional impact resistance and structural integrity. Its robust formulation makes it ideally suited for truck maintenance environments, where flooring must consistently withstand heavy operational loads.

The seamless design simplifies cleaning and ongoing maintenance, while the system’s industrial-grade durability significantly reduces the risk of premature failure. By selecting a high-performance resin system rather than a traditional coating, the client has proactively addressed the root causes of previous flooring issues and reduced long-term lifecycle risk.

With the successful completion of the workshop, the Truck Centre has established a new regional benchmark for heavy vehicle maintenance facilities. The project demonstrates how strategic flooring selection directly contributes to operational reliability, reduced maintenance intervention, and long-term asset protection. By investing in a durable, performance-driven resin solution from the outset, the facility is positioned to support sustained operational efficiency while setting the standard for future developments within the network.
